Vera Denjuros wrote:Thats why it was tested on SiSi before implementation, almost everything gets tested, so it beats me why there is all this whining now, perhaps if more people would help CCP test stuff on SiSi instead of crying wolf AFTER implementation....
People DID point out the problems:
Can we turn this off?
"post-jump rotation "around ship" will lead to motion sickness"
camera spinning with each jump gets a bit nauseating after a few jumps
I can see this getting VERY old very fast
please add an option to disable it for people with motion sickness
Nice effect - the first 10 jumps. Then, it just gets boring and the camera movement after you jumped really gets annoying
Basically every complaint post-patch was raised pre-patch !

Quote:It would be helpful if we got feedback about what in particular during the jump sequence is causing the most difficulty Here is my list
- The initial rotation of the camera makes me feel dizzy
- The tunnel effect makes me feel like falling and causes vertigo
- I am not epileptic but the flashing in the tunnel in really disturbing
- The violent deacceleration at the end of the tunnel feels like, well, a violent deacceleration
- The final rotation of the camera towards the gate is disorientating
In short: Every single part of the animation bothers me. Add to this, that even people who doesn't feel any physical side-effect gets very tired after jumping for long because the animation is simply overdone for such a simple task
Quote:a "turn off" [is] not a real proposition I don't buy this. I can understand if you are proud of your work and maybe sorry about its reception, but don't bullshit me: If we can jump with the map open, then we can also have an option that automatically switch to map-mode (or even better a blank screen) for the duration of the jump. |

F10 seems to be a simple and efficient off switch of a hard coded effect tied to a major game mechanic.
Make it happen automatically on jump and also don't display anything in "map-mode", then we're happy. How hard can it be ? |

Plastic Psycho wrote:ILoad star map before jumping. Problem solved. Thats what I do. In fact: I do map flying all the time now as it is easier than turning the map on and off for every jump. As an extra bonus I also get rid of the scan animation that way.
Considering that CCPs stated goal with the jump animation was to increase immersion in the game, they kinda missed the target. |

Why can't we just get an option to turn this off ?
It may hurt some programmers pride but what else would be lost ? Immersion ? Then I can tell you that I have been map flying exclusively since this animation arrived and I am pretty tired of that.

This is really annoying.

I wanted to try if the jump animation had gone any better after the release but now it s*cks worse than ever. I got stuck in an endless animation complete with rotation and flashes for minutes until I realized that it was just the animation - I had actually arrived at the new system and could warp to the next gate even though the animation was looping.
So they didn't change anything expect to f*ck it up. Yeah, an off-button must be hard to implement .... meanwhile I am back to map jumping again. |
